About…

Our Mission:

Turning art into independence and empowering lives.

Our Goal: To empower adults with special needs through creative expression and entrepreneurship.  We plan to provide a supportive environment where participants develop art skills, transform their creations into marketable products, and gain hands-on experience in building an art-based business.

Program Overview

1.       Explore Art Mediums: Participants will begin by learning how to create different types of art. The Three main areas will be 2Dimensional Art (watercolor paint, acrylic paint, print making), clay (hand-building with air dry clay), and mixed media (collage, journals). Each participant will also have the opportunity to explore another medium from items available in the studio.

2.       Projects and Product Development: Artists will choose the mediums they enjoy the most to create sellable products and build up an inventory of art that reflects their personal style and interests.

3.       Business Skills: Participants will learn how to name their art business, set fair prices, and prepare items for sale.

4.       Marketing & Sales: The group will learn how to interact with customers, share their stories as artists, and how to set up displays. Artists will get real world experience with a market open to the public hosted at the Heirloom Sisters’ Studio at the end of the program. If there is enough interest, we will also explore attending local community markets as a group.

5.       Life Skills & Connection: Once a skill is learned, students are encouraged to work more independently, developing confidence and self-direction. They will practice managing their time – learning how to balance work, breaks, and finishing projects. The schedule includes both focused work time and downtime, giving participants opportunities to relax, connect with peers and recharge, allowing them to work on interaction, social connection and peer relationships alongside skills.

Program Schedule

Club will meet on Wednesdays with two time options: 10am-2pm and 12pm-2pm. This will be a drop off program. If you have special circumstances and would like to discuss other options, please contact us privately. We will follow the Barrow County school calendar for holidays. We will host at least one Market at the end of the program on a Saturday at the Heirloom Sisters art Studio that will be open to the public. Other local market opportunities may be available for those interested and will be discussed at a later date.

Artist Requirements: Participants must be able to be independent at toileting, eating, and be able to follow instructions willingly. They must be independent in their fine motor skills or an assistant must be present. Artists should enjoy art and have a desire to create.

Cost: Daily cost for full day is $75 and half day is $40 (includes all materials.) Upon registration, participants will pay for the first month of classes. An invoice will be emailed at the beginning of each month. We kindly ask that you pay it within 5 days. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact us. You will not be charged for classes missed due to holidays. December will only include payment for club days and not markets. Any market we host will be free of charge and artists will keep all profits. If artists would like to participate in other markets as a group that are put on in our community, we will discuss cost based on how many artists would like to attend. We are currently working on approval to accept the NOW/COMP waiver.

We look forward to this new adventure with you! – Jamie and Rebecca
